PORT LOUIS 路易斯港
Port Louis is not only the capital of Mauritius, but also its main port. 路易斯港作为毛里求斯的首都，它还是一个重要的港口。
Of course, Port Louis was not always the principal port of the island. When the early settlers came to Mauritius, they chose to land at Grand Port or Mahebourg. However, the sea in the South East of the island is rough, and the pass to the lagoon requires skill to negociate. Nowadays the big cruise ships and cargo ships all dock at Port Louis. 当然路易斯港并不是一开始就是岛上的首要港口。早期的移居者选择在Grand Port或Mahebourg登陆，但是东南海岸地形险要，在礁石间穿行需要很高的技巧才能通过。如今，所有大型的巡洋舰和货轮都在路易斯港靠岸。
Port Louis, being the capital, holds most of the governmental offices. The Government House and the various ministries are (if I am not mistaken) all found in Port Louis. 路易斯港作为毛里求斯的首都，集中了绝大部分的政府机构，包括内阁和各种行政部门。
The Government House (Hotel du gouvernement) is the oldest building in Port Louis. It was built in 1735 by Mahé de Labourdonnais, the most illustrious French Governor of the island. Until recently, the Government House held the Prime Minister's office, the Legislative Assembly and many other offices. However, a few years ago, the government decided to move to the building across the street, to the former Treasury building and the National Museum of Port Louis. 国会所在地 (Hotel du gouvernement）是路易斯港最古老的建筑，他是Mahé de Labourdonnais先生在1735年修建的，Mahé de Labourdonnais是法国人委派的地方长官中最杰出的一位。Hotel du gouvernement 对面是前财政大厦和国家博物馆， 几年前，政府也搬到这里。
The market 市场
Another main attraction of Port Louis is the Central Market. This is where the city dwellers and those who come to work in the city during the day buy their vegetables and meat. As you can see from the above picture, the main entrance dates from colonial times. Tourists flock there to see the locals buy their vegs and meat, and also to try and bargain on some local crafts. 路易斯港的另一个重要景点是中央市场。 当地居民和白天来城里上班的人都在那里买菜。从上面的图片你可以看市场的主要入口是殖民地时期的建筑。旅游观光的人们纷纷来到这里看当地居民买日用品， 同时也为一些地方工艺品和商贩们讨价还价。
Chinatown 唐人街
Port Louis also boasts the island's Chinatown. As a result of the development of the island and several fires damaging the old buildings, the area has lost much of its attraction and identity. However, you can still find many Chinese shops there, along with Chinese products. Until the mid 90s, old women (including my grandma) would often be heard chatting in Hakka (客家话) in the streets.唐人街也是路易斯港引以为豪的地方。岛上发展的需要还有几次很大的火灾破坏了很多古老建筑，让这个地区也因此失去了许多景点和标志。但是，再那里你仍然可以看到许多中国商店买到中国的商品。 到上世纪90年代中期在唐人街还可以经常听到包括我祖母在内的一些上了年纪的人用客家话聊天
The picture below is that of my grandmother's house and medical shop on the ground floor. Well known within the Chinese community, it was THE place to go for traditional chinese medicine. However, with the government's restrictions on the sales of medical herbs and potions, together with the decline of doctors who are able to issue such prescription, my uncle has recently stopped making the mysterious concoctions, that would always have some weird smell and contain items whose origins I never knew got to know. I also remember my uncle sometimes giving me a piece of dried date or longan when I was a small kid. 下面的照片是我祖母的家，房子的第一层是药店。当时祖母的药店在华人社区相当有名，如果人们想要中药的话，这个药店是他们必去的地方。但是，随着政府对中草药和医药剂量的限制，再加上能够开药方的医生也越来越少，我的叔叔也停止制造那些神秘的混合草药。那些草药总是有股很怪的味道，有些东西我从来都不知道是从哪里 来的。记得小时候，我叔叔经常给我一些干枣和龙眼吃。
Of course, the Chinese community also has a Chinese Cultural Centre, found at Bell Village, which teaches traditional Chinese dancing, Chinese language (very popular with non-Chinese due to many muslims doing imports of goods from China) as well as Chinese martial arts (taiji and wushu, always fully booked). 当然，华人社区里有一所中华文化中心，它修建在Bell Village。那里教授传统中国舞蹈，中文，（由于有很多当地的穆斯林居民从中国进口商品，中文也变的越来越流行）和中国工夫 （太极拳，武术 课程学习的人一直都是满满）。
